Ronald McDonald House

The New Jersey Farm Bureau Women's Committee works throughout the year on philanthropic activities associated with the Ronald McDonald House in Camden, NJ.  The Ronald McDonald House provides families of critically ill children with meals and a comfortable place to stay while their love ones undergo medical treatment at the nearby Cooper Medical Center.  Activities include the Holiday Meal Drive, the  Food Check-Out Day food drive and the Farm Bureau room sponsorship.

Holiday Meal Drive

The Women's Committee held a meal drive at NJFB's annual meeting in Eatontown (Monmouth County) last November, asking members and County Boards of Agriculture to sponsor holiday meals for families staying at the Ronald McDonald House.  The drive was a huge success, raising more than $5,000 for meals at the Ronald McDonald House.  Members of the committee are pictured above with their display.  Each plate on the display represents a meal sponsor.  From left to right the members shown are:  Pat Harry, Marilyn Russo, Beth Pool, Thelma Grovatt, Ginger Cutts, Joy Ricker, Vilma Hockenbury, Jane Brodhecker, Ruth Kumple, Judy Marino and (kneeling) NJFB Staff Liaison Cheryl Gaskill.

Food Check-Out Day
Food Check-Out Day (February 7, 2001) is the day that the average American family has earned enough money to pay their grocery bills for the entire year.

The Farm Bureau Women's Committee, working in conjunction with NJFB shared their bounty by conducting a food drive for the Ronald McDonald House this year as part of the Food Check-Out Day celebration.

Pictured to the right, Alan Habiak, Farm Bureau Director from Middlesex County, delivers a wagon-load of groceries to the house.

Room Renovation

The Women's Committee and the New Jersey Farm Bureau worked cooperatively to sponsor the renovation and decoration a guest room at the Ronald McDonald House.  The room (pictured above) features paintings of farm animals and other agricultural scenes on the walls.  The artworks was provided by members of the NJFB Women's Committee.
