Richard Nieuwenhuis

For the last twenty-two years Rich has been the owner and operator of Boslands Flower Shop and Greenhouses in Wayne, New Jersey.  Rich and his wife  Trudy bought the flower shop in 1980 and developed it into an extremely successful operation.  Rich and Trudy are currently  relocating their home and business to Warren County.  

Rich has been a member of the Passaic County Board of Agriculture since 1990.  Rich served as the Director from Passaic County to the New Jersey Farm Bureau Board of Directors since 1996.  While a member of the board, he held positions on both the finance and insurance committees.  He served as NJFB first vice president before being elected president in 2002. 

Rich was appointed to the State Board of Agriculture by Governor Whitman in 1994, and served as its president in 1997-98.  He chaired both the nominating committee and the committee to revise the New Jersey Right to Farm Act.

Rich has also been active in several other organizations and activities including: serving as a Trustee, Vice president and President of the New Jersey State Florists' Association; serving on the Advisory Board of First Pioneer Farm Credit; serving as a trustee and an officer of the New Jersey Agriculture Society; and serving as chairman of the Passaic County Agriculture Development Board.
